Sulfate minerals contain the sulphate ion (SO₄) combined with metals, forming in evaporite basins, oxidised ore zones and hydrothermal settings. They include baryte, gypsum, anhydrite and anglesite, often showing bright colours, good cleavage and moderate hardness. Many record changing fluids and climates, and several are important industrial raw materials. For more information about sulfates, click HERE.
